Take these three immediate steps that will leverage the campaign and enhance your local practice:

Step 1: Begin requesting your local Mayor and/or City Council, Chamber of Commerce or other civic organization to sponsor a formal proclamation commemorating September 2017 as Drug-Free Pain Management Awareness Month.

Below are links to the suggested letter and proclamation:

Customize advertorials with your logo and practice information - send to local media, print out and place in-office, add to website and share on social media:

Step 2: On August 29, distribute a customized press release to your local media.

Link to release for State Association to customize and distribute: http://www.f4cp.com/files/resources/8.29.17SeptMonthStates.pdf

Step 3: Also, on August 29, send a letter to the editor from the State Association or individual doctors commemorating September 2017 as Drug-Free Pain Management Awareness Month.

Please review an overview of the three-month plan of activities to get you started: http://www.f4cp.com/files/f4cp-pub/pr_plans_july.pdf

You will benefit locally from what the Foundation does on a national level.

Your local and regional activities - and our national push - will elevate public awareness and utilization of chiropractic care as the optimal approach to pain management that averts opioid use and abuse.

Doctor Spotlight of the Month: Dr. Carl S. Cleveland III

This month, the F4CP spotlights Dr. Carl S. Cleveland III, President of Cleveland University-Kansas City, for the continued support he has provided for the Foundation and the chiropractic profession.

Cleveland is a fourth-generation doctor of chiropractic, grandson of the University's founders, and the third president of Cleveland Chiropractic College.

As an author, educator and ambassador for the profession, Dr. Cleveland III's background includes serving as a founding member of the Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters, and the Chiropractic Summit, former member of the Board of Directors of the Association for the History of Chiropractic, the National Chiropractic Legal Action Fund and the William M. Harris Family Foundation. He has served as president of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges, president of the Council on Chiropractic Education and as a national spokesperson for the Alliance for Chiropractic Progress (ACA/ICA).

In addition, Dr. Cleveland III serves as a member of the faculty at Cleveland University, teaching the Foundations in Philosophy and Science of Chiropractic course for first year chiropractic students.

The tremendous level of support shown by Dr. Cleveland aids the Foundation in its ability to generate positive press resources - including press releases, advertisements, print advertorials, television/radio public service announcements and sponsored research.

At this August 2017, Florida Chiropractic Convention, the Foundation proudly unveils Chiropractic: A Safe and Cost-Effective Approach to Health authored by Dr. Cleveland. This is a valued resource to share with friends, family, patients, legislators, decision- makers and health care professionals, providing an overview of chiropractic, its cost-effectiveness, safety, and patient satisfaction. Special thanks to Dr. Carl Cleveland III for this outstanding contribution.
