This month, the F4CP launches its campaign: ‘Save Lives. Stop Opioid Abuse. Choose Chiropractic. #StopOpioidAbuse
On a mission to raise ONE MILLION DOLLARS to continue to expand this campaign over the next year, the F4CP is asking for 5,000 doctors of chiropractic to contribute $200 each to support the campaign efforts. Those that want to contribute more can add others names – children, assistant(s), significant others and in honor of deceased family members – for an additional contribution. All donations made will go directly to the campaign.
As part of the campaign, the F4CP has compiled a comprehensive toolkit: ‘Opioid Toolkit 1.0,’ which includes several of its resources that emphasize the dangers associated with the misuse and abuse of prescription opioid painkillers and the benefits of chiropractic care.
The F4CP is planning to expand the Opioid Toolkit to include:
Opioid Toolkit 2.0’
Social Media Postings: Boosted / Sponsored Content
Custom Hashtag: #StopOpioidAbuse
TV and Radio Public Service Announcements
Times Square Advertisements
As additional donations are received and new resources are developed, the Opioid Toolkit will be expanded to better serve your community.

PSAs are a relatively inexpensive way to deliver messages to the consumer public via high profile media placements. Both TV and radio stations are required by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to place a certain number of PSAs into their rotations in order to maintain their licenses.
Regularly, the F4CP produces PSAs for either TV or radio. The TV PSAs are distributed to over 1,000 stations nationwide and the radio spots to over 6,500.
View our latest PSA on the value of nutrition and chiropractic care here.
As a monthly contributor to the F4CP you are permitted to utilize and personalize all F4CP PSAs in your local market. At a minimum, you may post them on your website or play them in your reception area.
If you wish to use these spots in your local market, we suggest you approach your local station with a broadcast-ready version and request that they be shown. Our only limitation is that all content of the F4CP PSAs remain the same, with the exclusion of your added contact information.
The F4CP is actively working on the production of a number of brand-new public service announcements:
Topic: What is chiropractic? What does a DC do?
Topic: Utilization of the Media Toolkit on Opioids
Topic: On-site clinics (NAWHC)
Stay tuned for links to the finalized versions!

Since 2005, Dr. Khalsa has contributed $300 quarterly to the campaign, with contributions totaling $13,500 to date.

Much of the F4CP's success can be attributed to its contributors. This month, we recognize Life College of Chiropractic West – who has continued to increase its support of the campaign over the years.
Since 2009, Life West has contributed more than $60,000. It is because of our valuable contributors, including Life College of Chiropractic West, that the F4CP can continue to fulfill its important mission, and we are extremely grateful for the continuous support.

Louisiana Initiates Commission on Preventing Opioid Abuse
The State of Louisiana has formed a commission to address the multitude of topics included in HCR 113 – a bill regarding the prevention of opioid abuse.
Among the members of the commission is the Chiropractic Association of Louisiana (CAL). CAL’s involvement on this committee will help to position chiropractic as a safe and effective non-drug alternative to prescription opioid painkillers.
Here’s to another step in the right direction!
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Covers Chiropractic
As the number of deaths linked to prescription opioid abuse continues to rise, government agencies, health care organizations, and key figures in the industry are recognizing the value of non-drug approaches to pain relief.
While many non-drug approaches are recommended for the management of pain, very rarely do we see ‘chiropractic care’ included.
This is HUGE news for the profession and we hope other plans will follow suit!
