Athletic TIPS Instructors™ Share Success Stories

After hundreds of doctors participated in Athletic TIPS Certification Seminars™ in 2014, several have started to report back to the F4CP about their positive experiences conducting community workshops.

Below is the experience of Athletic TIPS Instructor™, Dr. Chad Burt, who practices in Davenport, IA:

"The program went well. We had about 55 coaches in the 'Tri-County Town Ball League,' which is our area's youth baseball/softball league. I geared the program to a coach's perspective.

As far as establishing a relationship, my kids play in this league; one of the board members is a patient of mine, and several of the coaches are friends, neighbors, patients, etc. I first contacted the one board member and offered to do a program for them. She said that would be a good idea, and then got back to me saying, 'actually we are now required by our liability insurance to require concussion training, so thanks for offering.' Therefore this was an easy group to get involved with.

Remembering that these people are 'required' to be there, not necessarily want to be there, there were no questions after the program to gauge feedback. I spoke for about 50 minutes. The vast majority of attendees seemed very interested...there was a lot of head nodding/agreeing as I presented. I asked at the beginning and there were only a handful of people who had previously gone through a concussion program, so this was new information for most in the room. I did speak with a couple people I knew after the program and there response was that the program was good. I did speak with one coach who is also the head football coach for a large area high school (probably around 1000+ students). His response was that the program was good and contained lots of good information and good handouts. He's been through a concussion program numerous times, so he has a good perspective. I am excited about bringing the Athletic TIPS™ program to my area and look forward to the opportunities that come next."

Significant Contributions Close Out 2014

The F4CP closed out the year with tremendous success, receiving countless donations in support of its campaign:

  • The Illinois Chiropractic Foundation, an affiliate of the Illinois Chiropractic Society (F4CP contributor since 2009), contributed $12,000 to the F4CP with a goal of having the F4CP schedule an ad campaign across 20 publications within Illinois. The ad selected by the Illinois Chiropractic Foundation can be seen here and will begin appearing in publications on 1/12/15. The F4CP will also run this same ad nationally the week of 1/26/15.
    • Through this partnership, the Illinois Chiropractic Foundation was able to take advantage of the deeply discounted rates offered to the F4CP. The campaign, which totaled about $12,000, would be upwards of $107,000 if purchased without the support of F4CP or another authorized not-for-profit.
  • As a result of a friendly competition over the MLB World Series between Palmer Chiropractic College, San Jose Campus and Cleveland Chiropractic College, Kansas City, over $5,100 was contributed to the F4CP. Palmer, which contributed $2,700 as a result of the competition, has been a long-time annual contributor to the F4CP - with its 2014 donation totaling $20,000.
  • Drs. Pat Gentempo and Troy Dukowitz of Free Form held a webinar that drew over 70 doctors. Registration was $10 per person and all proceeds were contributed to the F4CP.
  • The American Chiropractic Association continued its annual contribution of $4,000 to the F4CP.

Standard Process to Match Customer Donations Up to $100,000 in 2015

Since the beginning of the F4CP campaign, Standard Process (SP) has been a tremendous supporter. Since 2006, SP has contributed at a minimum $100,000 per year, not including additional donations made by its many supportive distributers. In 2014, the total contribution made by SP and its distributors was upwards of $135,000.

For 2015, SP has selected to alter its approach to contributing, in hopes of encouraging more of its customers to support the positive press campaign, as well. SP has committed to match each $25 per month donation made by its customers, up until $100,000. SP will continue this fundraiser through August 2015, and has a goal of bringing in 500 new F4CP contributors.

This outstanding commitment was were made at the annual meeting of the Chiropractic Summit in New Orleans. Also on record from that meeting was a statement by the Summit sharing its support of the F4CP mission.
