F4CP Raises Alert Level on Nationwide Drug Epidemic

As the nationwide drug epidemic continues to rise, the F4CP is taking a strong stance against the misuse, abuse and overprescribing of prescription drug medications.

An article published by The Wall Street Journal claims participants in the October WMUR Granite State Poll in New Hampshire ranked drug abuse as the most important issue in the 2016 presidential campaign – trumping job and economic matters for the first time in eight years.

Additionally, the American Medical Association (AMA) has sought a ban on direct-to-consumer advertisements for prescription drugs and implantable medical devices due to a surge in associated costs and patients' demands for inappropriate treatment.

As issues surrounding overprescribing and abuse begin to dominate the conversations of presidential candidates and national organizations, experts at the F4CP continue to communicate the need for evidence-based, drug-free options, including chiropractic care, to serve as a primary approach to pain relief.

The F4CP has distributed two national press releases on this topic, which can be read below:

Lastly, the F4CP is actively contacting national print publications in an effort to join forces and create an informative piece that educates individuals nationwide about the dangers of prescription pain medications.

Stay tuned for updates!

F4CP Presence at 2015 IHC FORUM West

Last month, the F4CP sponsored Jan Chambers, president of the National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association (NFMCPA), as a speaker at the 2015 Institute for HealthCare Consumerism Forum West (IHC FORUM West) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jan's workshop, "Employers Pay the Price for Chronic Pain in the Workplace," hosted a discussion about the impact of chronic pain in the workplace and the utilization of chiropractic care as a frontline treatment option for pain relief.

To generate exposure prior to the event, the F4CP distributed a national press release which was viewed 2,128 times within the first 24 hours of distribution!!

Here are some statistics from Jan’s presentation that may surprise you:

  • Pain is the number one cause of adult disability in the U.S.
  • Pain costs $294 billion annually in lost workdays, medical expenses, and other benefit costs.
  • Lost productive time from common pain conditions among active U.S. workers cost an estimated $61.2 billion annually, largely due to reduced performance while at work.
  • Thirteen percent of the total workforce experienced a loss in productive time during a two-week period due to a common pain condition, including headache, back pain, arthritis, and musculoskeletal pain.

Integration of DC's into Onsite Health Clinics

In an effort to advance the knowledge of employers and top health care professionals about the benefits of chiropractic care, the F4CP attends a number of employer-sponsored events each year.

Employers are crediting access to chiropractic care and communication among providers for the decrease in hospital costs, reduced use of opioid painkillers and high patient satisfaction scores.

As a growing number of corporate on-site clinics launch, worksite health providers are looking to the F4CP as an expert resource to connect doctors of chiropractic to onsite clinics and integrated practice settings.

For additional information about the value of chiropractic care within on-site corporate health clinics, download the latest F4CP white paper entitled: The Growing Role of Doctors of Chiropractic in On-Site Corporate Health Clinics, here.

Contributor Spotlight of the Month: ChiroHealthUSA

The F4CP's success can be attributed to its contributors. This month, we recognize ChiroHealthUSA and its founder and president Dr. Ray Foxworth for their long-standing support and commitment to the F4CP.

For the second year in a row, ChiroHealthUSA will donate $50,000 to the F4CP. To date, ChiroHealthUSA has donated $150,000. The donations to the F4CP are made possible by over 3,000 participating providers and their teams that offer ChiroHealthUSA to their patients, making healthcare in their offices affordable.

It is because of our valuable contributors, including ChiroHealthUSA that the F4CP can continue to fulfill its important mission, and we are extremely grateful for the ongoing support.
