Chiropractic Makes Headlines with Latest Progress

The chiropractic profession has been the recipient of positive news. To view a few of the top headlines, read below:

  1. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) recognizes chiropractic as a form of treatment for low back pain in its "patient page" featured in the April 24th issue of JAMA. The page is featured below.

  3. Although the reference is not one that the F4CP would have issued, its inclusion by the AMA is very significant and echoes the F4CP theme of chiropractic first, medicine second and surgery last.
  1. Dr. Ross Miller, medical executive at the Kansas City-based healthcare technology company, Cerner Corporation, promotes new pro-chiropractic research at the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine annual event. The event attracted a crowd of nearly 1,000 medical doctors. The handout below was distributed to attendees and featured as a large poster in a prominent location.

  3. The F4CP was present at this event, and a number of doctors who were interested in the new research visited the F4CP booth to learn more about chiropractic care.
  1. The 2012 Gallop Poll reported a four percent increase in public opinion in regards to trust of the chiropractic profession. Chiropractic has shown a steady increase over the last few years.

    2012: 38 percent
  3. The poll was conducted by Gallop with USA Today, following one complete year of monthly chiropractic ads in both USA Today and The Wall Street Journal.

One Idea: Many might argue over the reason for the recent boost in positive press, but the F4CP believes its campaign – which generated over 31 billion positive chiropractic impressions in 2012 -- played a significant role. For over 50 years, political medicine used the media to undermine consumer confidence in chiropractic care, and for 50 years, the profession was silent. Today, the F4CP serves as the voice of the profession with its positive press campaign. The F4CP and YOU have awakened the public and media to the value of chiropractic care, and will continue to do so with billions of positive impressions generated annually. The constant promotion of new research and positive patient testimonials, have and will continue to, open the doors for chiropractic to new business opportunities -- especially as more impressions are generated nationwide. This does not happen by chance, but by organized effort and the funding to accomplish - one mission - positive chiropractic press.

Rutgers University Reviews F4CP Press Coverage

The F4CP has retained the services of Professor Michael Katehakis, department chair and professor of Management Science & Information Systems at Rutgers Business School, to analyze its generated media impressions. Professor Katehakis will identify the specific areas in the country where F4CP promotion has penetrated and the exact demographics of the exposed audience.

This information will allow the F4CP to better understand where and with what audience its placements are most efficient --- and adjust its positive press campaign, if needed. Additionally, it will provide the F4CP with facts for meetings with corporations regarding sponsorship – who are very interested in a comprehensive report regarding reach.

What Advertisements to Look for in May

In May, the F4CP will continue its aggressive ad schedule, placing two ads in both The Wall Street Journal and USA Today.

Please note that all dates are selected based on a number of factors, including specific events, sporting seasons and special occasions. For example, during the month of May, the F4CP chose to place its fibromyalgia ad for National Fibromyalgia Awareness Month and its champion ad with two-time Indy Winner for the Indy 500 race which occurs at the end of the month.

Employer Outreach Program = Nothing but Success!!

American Occupational Health Conference (AOHC): Between April 28th - May 1st, the F4CP exhibited at the annual event of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. For the past several years, the F4CP has exhibited at major employer conferences, and each time increases the number of contacts for the profession. The AOHC was no exception. However, one difference did exist in comparison to other meetings -- the attendees were primarily medical doctors – many of which visited the F4CP booth to express their personal and positive relationship with local doctors of chiropractic.

Bonus: Dr. Ross Miller, medical executive, Cerner, promoted new pro-chiropractic research: "Value of Chiropractic Services at an On-site Health Center," with handouts and a large poster in the main conference area. Please find the handout distributed below. Dr. Miller has presented this research alongside Bill Updyke, D.C., Leader, Physical and Complementary Medicine, Cisco, LifeConnections Health Center, on behalf of the F4CP.

The F4CP believes this study will help to increase the number of doctors of chiropractic employed at onsite clinics. Presently, there are nearly 15 companies that either have, or are planning to have, doctors of chiropractic onsite – doubling the presence five months ago.

This boost is due to greater implementation of onsite clinics, as a result of companies recognizing the comprehensive value provided. This trend could potentially provide an opportunity for doctors of chiropractic to fill an important niche. As always, the F4CP will be sure to share progress and success stories via positive press.

IHC Forum East: Between May 9-10th, the F4CP attended the IHC Forum East in Atlanta, Ga. Dr. Clum, president emeritus, Life Chiropractic College West, represented the F4CP as a speaker during the event. His workshop engaged some high-level benefits professionals from companies including Aetna. There were many questions asked and feedback following the session was remarkable.

In comparison to previous employer conferences, this one really stood out. There was absolutely no push back or negative feedback in relation to chiropractic. Instead, the F4CP completely ran out of white papers and listened to countless positive stories about chiropractic care. The F4CP believes this demonstrates the impact and progress of the F4CP over the years.

Bonus: The majority of attendees shared a similar message -- in 2014 companies will introduce more innovative, cost-effective and prevention-oriented health plans. There is no better time for chiropractic.

The California Chiropractic Association (CCA) will host the 2013 CCA Annual Convention & Exposition on May 30th through June 2nd at the stunning Paradise Point Resort & Spa in beautiful San Diego, Ca. More information regarding the event is below:
