The release of the 2012 PR Report confirms it -- the F4CP positive press campaign has generated over 31 billion positive chiropractic media impressions over 2012. In addition to listing the notable achievements of the F4CP, the report details the many public relations activities – including the distribution of public service announcements to over 6,500 stations, the delivery of bi-monthly press releases and print advertorials to over 10,000 publications nationwide and the posting of new social syndications on popular sites. Furthermore, the report clearly defines a positive media impression - what it is and how it is calculated.

F4CP Highlights New Study: Chiropractic Significantly Reduces Back Surgery

Fulfilling its primary mission of generating positive press for chiropractic, the F4CP recently issued a press release on a study conducted by a collaboration of prestigious organizations - including Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, University of Washington School of Public Health, University of Washington School of Medicine, Ohio State University College of Public Health and the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries - which concluded reduced odds of surgery for those under age 35, women, Hispanics and those whose first provider was a chiropractor. In total, 42.7 percent of workers who initially visited a surgeon underwent surgery, in contrast to only 1.5 percent of those who first consulted a chiropractor.

NEW TAGLINE: Chiropractic First, Medicine Second and Surgery Last

Beginning in the next few weeks, the F4CP will debut its newest tagline: Chiropractic First, Medicine Second and Surgery Last. This tagline was coined in an effort to promote chiropractic care as the first choice in treatment before aggressive interventions. All new F4CP ads -- which will feature medical doctors and other healthcare providers expressing their positive experiences with chiropractic care – will showcase the new tagline. The first ad to be rolled out will include two doctors who appeared in a very impactful segment of the new film Doctored. Order Doctored DVDs HERE.

Celebrities Attend Parker to Celebrate F4CP and Chiropractic

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the F4CP sponsored a major program at the 2013 Parker Seminars in Las Vegas. The overall theme was to bring Champions of Chiropractic (in and outside of the profession) together to express their support of chiropractic and the F4CP.

The 90-minute F4CP program included the following champions:

  • Jerry Rice: NFL hall of famer
  • Linda Cohn: ESPN anchor
  • Mark Collins: Two-time super bowl champion and standout cornerback
    It was unforgettable when Rice and Collins met for the first time ever on stage and exchanged comments about their rivalry.
  • Picabo Street: Former Olympic and World Championship medalist in skiing
  • Becky Halstead: Retired U.S. Army Brigadier General
  • Jeff Hays: Producer of Doctored
    A special trailer was made specifically for this event.
  • Dr. Spencer Baron: Chiropractor for the Miami Dolphins
  • Dr. Alan Sokoloff: Chiropractor for the Baltimore Ravens
  • Dr. Jay Greenstein: Chiropractor for the Washington Redskin Cheerleaders
  • Drs. James Chestnut, Fabrizio Mancini, Jason West, Craig Buhler, Francis Murphy and Mike Flynn
  • Dr. Pat Gentempo
    Dr. Gentempo partnered with Kent Greenawalt in serving as the Master of Ceremonies

Following the program, attendees were invited to the exhibit area where they had an opportunity to be photographed with Jerry Rice and meet several of the other attending celebrities.

Record-breaking Contributions Generated at Parker Seminars 2013

The celebratory F4CP program kicked off an over-the-top successful fundraising weekend at this year’s Parker Seminars. By the close of Parker, the F4CP had signed up 100 new monthly contributors and brought in major contributions from Biotics Research, ChiroTouch, the Michigan Association of Chiropractors and ChiroOne. The contribution total for the weekend was $198,000 in pledges and vendor donations. The F4CP is beyond grateful for the support of the chiropractic profession and is looking forward to generating some serious positive chiropractic press in 2013.

ChiroTouch Leads the Way…
During Parker Seminars, Chirotouch presented the F4CP with two checks totaling $114,000. In addition to donating funds, ChiroTouch signed up nearly 300 new members through its software sales rebate initiative which took pace during the final months of 2012.

ChiroTouch submitted its first contribution last year in the amount of $50,000. To date, ChiroTouch has contributed a total of $164,000.

Michigan Association Steps Up to the Challenge
The Michigan Association of Chiropractors (MAC) stepped forward once again with its annual contribution to the F4CP – increasing it to $21,000, bringing its total contributions to over $93,000. In addition to the generous donation, the MAC has presented a challenge to all other state associations to match its commitment.

Biotics Research Makes an Impression
For the first time, Biotics Research has become a progress partner of the F4CP. During Parker Seminars, Biotics announced its annual pledge for 2013 would be an impressive $25,000.

ChiroOne Renews its Commitment
Immediately following Parker, Stuart Bernsen, DC, chief executive officer of ChiroOne, announced that his organization would pledge $10,000 to the F4CP in 2013.

NEW TV Public Service Announcements Filmed

With so many celebrities in one place, at one time, the F4CP made sure to make the most of the special opportunity. Following the main Parker program, several of the stars were filmed for an F4CP public service announcement. Below provides a list of stars caught on camera and a glimpse into their personal stories shared.

Mark Collins, former safety and corner in the NFL, played for the NY Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, the Green Bay Packers, and the Seattle Seahawks. While with the Giants, he was a two-time Super Bowl Champion. Collins shared his reliability on chiropractic to help assist with his championship career.

Jerry Rice, NFL all-star wide receiver who won three Super Bowl rings playing for the San Francisco 49ers and an AFC Championship with the Oakland Raiders, discussed how chiropractic helped him to achieve his impressive career records.

Picabo Street, former Olympian and World Championship medalist, talked about how chiropractic saved her career and improved her health - allowing her to compete at high levels.

Becky Halstead, retired U.S. Army brigadier general, worked with Producer Jeff Hays to prepare a new piece specifically directed at veterans that encourages them to consider entering the chiropractic profession. As the military trims down its numbers, veterans will be looking for a new career and chiropractic can be the answer.

Upon completion, the 60 second videos – which will be available to doctors - will be distributed to over 1,000 TV stations nationwide.

Media Interviews at Parker Seminars

As with other events, the F4CP arranged for several media interviews with General Halstead to take place during Parker Seminars. The following media outlets were present:

FOX 5 – KVVU TV: A FOX affiliate covering the Las Vegas area, this station has become one of 85 stations in the U.S. to immediately offer viewers use of a social television network that connects them to an integrated viewing experience featuring extra content with the programs they watch. The filmed segment will be made available on the F4CP site, once received.

Las Vegas Review-Journal: Las Vegas Review-Journal is a daily newspaper written for the residents of Las Vegas. It covers local, regional and national news, business, entertainment, health, food, sports and lifestyle. This piece will be made available on the F4CP site shortly.

Major Retailer Announces Special Day in Support of Chiropractic

For the first time in F4CP history, a major retailer signed on in support of chiropractic. On February 16, 2013, select shoe vendors in 48 Dillard's stores will participate in "Commit to Get Fit: Mind, Body & "Sole." Vendors will donate 10 percent of all proceeds made on this day to the F4CP. To view a complete list of participating stores, click here.

January Spotlight: White Papers

DID YOU KNOW that the F4CP has published four white papers pertaining to the cost-effectiveness and clinical efficacy of chiropractic care? These papers are used to communicate the value of chiropractic to employers, top healthcare professionals and other influential figures. Each paper has been distributed to media outlets nationwide and has received substantial coverage. Below is a list of all F4CP papers and corresponding descriptions:

A Safer Approach to Long-term Relief from Back Pain
Responding to the grim news from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that the fungal meningitis outbreak attributed to a Massachusetts compounding pharmacy amounted to 678 cases in 19 states with 44 deaths – and those numbers continue to climb with the possibility that 13,000 patients might have received products from the company - the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP) issued a position paper: A Safer Approach to Long-term Relief from Back Pain: Understanding the role of chiropractic care as the first option in providing drug-free, non-invasive effective back pain management. The paper also points to overuse of cortisone injections, dangers of addiction to prescription drugs such as Methadone and other opioids for musculoskeletal problems such as back pain and arthritis, as well as mounting evidence that for many patients, surgery is no better at relieving pain than non-invasive care options. The Role of Chiropractic Care in the Patient-Centered Medical Home
This hallmark paper documents the value of chiropractic care in the next phase of healthcare delivery. Prepared by the leading consulting firm, DISCERN, this document details the many opportunities for a Chiropractic Doctor to be a fundamental figure within the medical home model. By integrating chiropractic care, medical home care teams are able to effectively care for patients, and therefore meet the criteria and goals of the Patient-Centered Medical Home - improved overall health outcomes - affordable healthcare, better access and increased patient satisfaction. Optimal Health with Chiropractic Services
As the country experiences innovation and adoption in health reform, the opportunity arises to expand the continuum of care services in order to apply the right mix of resources for each individual. Chiropractic intervention is one area in which new analysis may define the placement in the care continuum. This will be especially important in the transformational years of patient-centered care with low numbers of primary care physicians to serve as medical home quarterbacks. Care that causes early engagement of both the patient and clinician coupled with shared accountability for the outcome is the most desirable of relationships. Evidence-Based Assessment
Low back and neck pain are extremely common conditions that consume large amounts of healthcare resources. Chiropractic care, including spinal manipulation and mobilization, are used by almost half of U.S. patients with persistent back-pain seeking out this modality of treatment. Does the availability of chiropractic care improve the value of health benefit plans? The peer-reviewed scientific literature evaluating the effectiveness of U.S. chiropractic treatment for patients with back and neck pain suggests that these treatments are at least as effective as other widely used treatments. However, U.S. cost-effectiveness studies have methodological limitations. Click here to download the paper.
