FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

F4CP Cites Results of 2016 Gallup-Palmer Annual Report: Chiropractic Valuable Option for U.S. Adults

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – September 27, 2016 – The Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP), the leading voice of the chiropractic profession, calls attention to the results of the second “Gallup-Palmer College of Chiropractic Annual Report: Americans’ Perceptions of Chiropractic,” which validate the evidence-based, non-drug chiropractic approach as a valuable option for the 65 percent of U.S. adults who visit a health care professional for neck and back pain. The study examined the perceptions among U.S. adults about the effectiveness and safety of different care options for significant neck and back pain, the barriers that prevent some adults from trying chiropractic services, as well as the experience of those who utilize chiropractic.

During the last five years, almost 62 million U.S. adults consulted a doctor of chiropractic (DC), with roughly 35.5 million in the last 12 months,” states Sherry McAllister, DC, executive vice president, F4CP, who notes that approximately 89 percent of past year chiropractic users (roughly 31.6 million people) recommend it to family and friends. “Chiropractic patients are more likely to refer services to friends and family when their DC takes the time to educate them on available options, while expressing care.”

The study, which surveyed 7,645 U.S. adults, documents:

U.S. adults are more likely to describe chiropractic care as ‘very safe’ and ‘very effective’ in comparison to pain medications or back surgery,” says Dr. McAllister. “With the high percentage of individuals experiencing neck or back pain at some point in their lives, it is important to help people understand the value of the conservative, non-pharmacological chiropractic approach. Growing evidence documents that chiropractic care yields improved clinical outcomes, reduced costs and high patient satisfaction scores.”
